At 78, Dhiren Laskar has lived a life shaped by the land. From Koimetal village in Malkangiri - one of Odisha's most remote and underserved districts - he has worked as a farmer for decades, tending his fields through seasons of rain and drought, abundance and hardship. The land is not just how he earns a living. It is how he knows himself.
But in his later years, the distance vision issues that had been slowly developing became a serious obstacle to his work. He could no longer clearly see across his fields, judge the health of distant crops, or navigate the land with the confidence that decades of farming had given him. He found himself stepping back from work he had done all his life - not out of choice, but necessity.
"I am very happy with my new glasses and grateful to Care Netram for their support."
When Care Netram's eye camp reached his area, Dhiren attended. His vision was assessed professionally, and distance vision issues were correctly identified and prescribed for. He was provided with a pair of glasses suited to his needs - made accessible through the camp at a cost he could manage.
The result was one of immediate joy. With his distance vision restored, Dhiren could see his fields clearly again - the rows of crops, the boundaries of his land, the tools and landscape he had worked with all his life. He returned to his work with visible happiness.
"I am very happy with my new glasses and grateful to Care Netram for their support," he said. At 78, those words carry the full weight of a life reconnected to its purpose.
