Renu Yogi

"Today, Renu travels confidently between villages, selling her goods and earning her livelihood with pride."

Renu Yogi has spent decades as a bangle seller, walking between villages with her colourful wares, building relationships with customers who have known her for years. Her trade is not just a source of income - it is her identity, her independence, and the thread that connects her to her community. But as her vision began to deteriorate, even the simple act of counting bangles became difficult.

Unable to afford a hospital visit, Renu found herself trapped in a familiar dilemma faced by millions across rural India: the cost of care was simply beyond reach. Without treatment, her ability to work was slipping away - and with it, her livelihood and sense of purpose.

"Unable to afford a hospital visit, she attended a Care Netram camp - and everything changed."

When she heard about a Care Netram eye camp being held nearby, she attended - not entirely hopeful, but willing to try. At the camp, her eyes were tested by trained professionals. She received a pair of prescription glasses suited to her vision, at a cost she could actually afford.

The difference was immediate. Renu could see clearly again - the faces of her customers, the details of the bangles she had sold for years, the road stretching ahead between one village and the next. She walked home that day with her head held a little higher.

Today, Renu continues her rounds between villages, selling her goods with the same pride and confidence she had feared was gone forever. Her story is a reminder that restoring vision restores far more than sight - it restores a person's ability to earn, to connect, and to live with dignity.
