Bringing Vision Care Closer to Every Community

For millions of people in rural and underserved regions, quality eye care remains out of reach - our eye camps bridge this gap.

Our Approach

How Our Eye Camps Work

For millions of people living in rural and underserved regions, quality eye care remains out of reach. Long travel distances, limited awareness, and the cost of treatment often prevent individuals from seeking timely vision care. At Care Netram, our Community Eye Camps are designed to bridge this gap by bringing comprehensive eye care services directly to the communities that need them most.

Donor Impact Support That Transforms

What Your Support Makes Possible

Every contribution powers a different layer of community eye care - from awareness to spectacles to surgery referrals.

Mobilising Communities
& Screening Days

Your donations help us mobilise communities through partnerships with local leaders, schools, panchayats, and factories. We raise awareness through outreach activities, posters, and announcements, ensuring that people don't have to travel far or lose a day's wages for care.

Funds also cover the practical aspects of screening days, from transport for our medical teams to setting up temporary registration and examination areas. Trained optometrists and vision technicians offer free consultations and eye exams at each camp.

Mobilising Communities

Spectacle Distribution
& Support

During each camp, we identify individuals with refractive errors (e.g., myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism) and provide them with affordable, high-quality spectacles through GoodVision's modular system. Your support helps fund the entire process from screening and identification to assembling and dispensing glasses, often within days.

This ensures that children can see clearly in class, adults can work safely, and elders can maintain their independence.

Spectacle Distribution

Referrals for
Advanced Care

For those with conditions like cataracts, our camps go beyond just identifying issues - we coordinate referrals to partner hospitals for treatment and surgery. From arranging appointments to providing transport and financial assistance, we ensure that patients don't face unnecessary barriers to care.

Your donations help cover these logistical costs, ensuring that patients get the care they need, often at subsidised or no cost.

Impact Story

A Life Improved by Vision

Shyamananda Dhure, a 40-year-old driver working with the NHIT, Kharagpur, relies on clear eyesight to carry out his daily responsibilities on the highway. Over time, he started facing vision-related discomfort, which made long hours of driving more challenging.

He attended an eye screening camp conducted under the National Highway Infra Trust – Kharagpur Project in collaboration with Care Netram – GoodVision India. At the camp, his eyes were checked thoroughly, and the team identified his vision requirement. He was advised to use spectacles suitable for driving.

After receiving spectacle at an affordable cost, Shyamananda experienced a noticeable improvement in his vision. This helped him drive more comfortably and with better confidence. He expressed his gratitude for the eye screening initiative, which played an important role in supporting his safety and livelihood.

Santosh Munda, a 33-year-old driver associated with the NHIT, Kharagpur, participated in the eye screening. Clear vision is critical for his profession, and he had been experiencing difficulty while driving, especially in judging distance.

At the camp, his eyes were examined thoroughly, and his vision issue was identified. He was advised to use spectacles suitable for driving and was provided with glasses at an affordable cost. After using the spectacles, Santosh experienced a noticeable improvement in his vision, making driving safer and more comfortable.

Santosh expressed his gratitude for the initiative, sharing that the eye screening camp helped him continue his work with greater confidence and safety.

Blurred vision left 15-year-old Rajalaxmi Sahoo struggling to keep pace in her 9th-grade classroom at Gurudijhatia Girls' High School, Athagarh.

A targeted vision screening caught what had been missed, equipping her with custom prescription glasses.

The struggle ended immediately. With sharp sight restored, Rajalaxmi reclaimed her place at the top of her class—turning frustration into focus and ambition into achievement.

In class, blurred blackboard text and frequent headaches made studying a daily struggle for Payal Behera and her best friend, Priyanka Das.

Everything changed when a free eye check-up camp was held at their school. After receiving custom prescription glasses, their bright smiles said it all—the world was clear again.

With clear vision restored, their confidence soared, opening up a clearer path toward their dreams.

Ramesh Mohanty (51), an L&T construction worker, works hard every day to build heavy structures under tough conditions.

Care Netram free screening camp provided him with proper eyeglass helping him see clearly and work safely with confidence.

Basanta Barik (53), an L&T construction worker, often struggled with blurry vision during his daily site tasks.

Through the Care Netram mobile eye-care initiative, he received a free vision check-up and a pair of custom prescription glass.

FAQs

Frequent Questions

Improving learning and work - while adding safety, health, and independence to daily life.

Care Netram works to make affordable, accessible and quality eye care available to underserved communities. We conduct community and school eye-screening programmes, provide affordable spectacles, identify and refer people requiring further eye care, and develop sustainable vision-care models such as Vision Centres and Vision Entrepreneur/NetraSathi models.

Our approach combines eye health, technology, local entrepreneurship and livelihood creation to build sustainable access to vision care.

Our programmes primarily benefit low-income and underserved communities, including people living in rural and semi-urban areas, tribal communities, schoolchildren, workers and other groups who may have limited access to affordable eye care.

We focus particularly on people who face geographical, economic or social barriers to accessing vision services.

We track both reach and impact across our programmes. Key indicators include:

  • People screened for vision problems
  • Spectacles prescribed and dispensed
  • Children reached through school programmes
  • Cataract and other eye-care referrals
  • People successfully connected to appropriate eye-care services
  • Eye camps and outreach programmes conducted
  • Vision Centres and local vision entrepreneurs established
  • Livelihood opportunities created through our vision-care models

Digital systems are increasingly used to capture patient and programme data, monitor performance and support transparent reporting to partners and donors.

Donations help us expand access to affordable eye care for communities that need it most. Depending on the programme, funds may support:

  • Community and school eye-screening camps
  • Affordable or free spectacles for people in need
  • Vision Centres and outreach services
  • Eye-care equipment and technology
  • Training of Vision Technicians and local vision entrepreneurs
  • Patient referrals and follow-up
  • Programme operations, monitoring and impact measurement

We aim to use donor support responsibly and efficiently, with programme expenditure linked to clearly defined activities and outcomes.

Yes. CSR partners can support specific programme areas, geographies or beneficiary groups, with CSR projects being executed through our NGO, GoodVision India Foundation, subject to applicable CSR and regulatory requirements.

Care Netram provides the programme implementation expertise, field network, technical resources and operational support for delivering these initiatives.

Potential CSR areas include:

  • Rural and tribal eye-care programmes
  • School eye-health and vision screening
  • Affordable and free spectacles
  • Vision Centres and community eye-care services
  • Technology-enabled eye screening and tele-optometry
  • Cataract identification and referral
  • Training and livelihood opportunities in vision care
  • Vision Entrepreneur / NetraSathi programmes

We can work with CSR partners to develop a customised project proposal covering the geography, beneficiaries, activities, budget, implementation plan, measurable outcomes and reporting framework.

CSR funding can therefore support a clearly defined programme, with GoodVision India Foundation providing the eligible NGO framework and Care Netram supporting on-ground implementation.

Yes. We provide appropriate donation documentation in accordance with applicable Indian laws and regulatory requirements.

For Indian donors, an appropriate donation receipt and supporting documentation can be provided, subject to the organisation's applicable tax-exemption and regulatory status.

For international donors, documentation and eligibility for tax benefits depend on the donor's country and the regulations governing cross-border donations. International donors should check the tax treatment applicable in their country before making a contribution.

For CSR partnerships and institutional grants, we provide relevant agreements, utilisation documentation, programme reports and other supporting documents as applicable.
